Catching Bass Bank Fishing in COLD Pond Water? Try a Spinnerbait!
Cold water fishing for bass is hard, especially if you’re bank fishing in a pond! But sometimes that cabin fever hits you hard, and you find yourself standing on the bank of a pond, throwing lures into that cold, cold late winter/early spring water.
I found myself in that situation earlier this week. I was sick of being trapped indoors after a really long winter, and I headed out to a small local pond in hopes that the water had warmed up enough to catch a fish. The water was about 46 degrees (same as the air temperature, actually), and I tried throwing one of my all time confidence baits: the spinnerbait.

I went fishing in cold water for bass with this Walmart fishing lure that cost me about $1.
But it's a spinnerbait and I do love spinnerbait fishing!
Bank fishing is always challenging, but one of my best bass fishing tips for spring or winter is to try throwing that spinnerbait. Something about it just charges up the fish and gets them moving, even when they’re super cold like this TINY little guy was.
